The program paired academic and linguistic training so that students could major in a field of their choice while learning Japanese.<\/p>\n<h3>Students in the UO Global Scholars Program:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Learned Japanese language and experienced the culture in an immersion setting<\/li>\n<li>Lived in a language-learning dorm<\/li>\n<li>Enrolled in regular courses at the University of Oregon, taught in English, along with discussion courses taught in Japanese<\/li>\n<li>Majored in an academic field of their choice<\/li>\n<li>Studied abroad at a university in Japan their junior year, enrolling in regular courses in their major with native-speaking peers<\/li>\n<li>Completed a senior thesis to showcase their academic, language, and cultural skills<\/li>\n<li>Graduated with professional-level Japanese skills, making them competitive for graduate school or employment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UO\u00a0Global Scholars Program in Japanese Level: University Language: Japanese Together, CASLS, the Center for Asian and Pacific Studies, and the Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures developed the University of Oregon Japanese Global Scholars Program.
